What information this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who we are

This website is run by URstory NPC (registration number 2023/116541/08) in Still Bay, South Africa. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here, under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect, and why

  • When you send us a message or register for training: your name, e-mail address, phone number, the organisation you belong to if you give it, what you write to us, and the time you agreed to us using your details. We use it to reply to you, to register you, and to send you a confirmation.
  • When you order from the shop: your name, e-mail address, phone number, the delivery address if you choose delivery, and what you ordered. We use it to confirm, prepare and deliver your order, to keep records of the sale and to answer questions about it. You can check out as a guest, without an account.
  • When you sign up for Sarah’s news: your e-mail address, your first name if you give it, and the time you asked to join. We use it only to send you Sarah’s news, about once a month. We e-mail you once to confirm that the address is yours, and every news e-mail has a link to leave the list at any time.
  • Payment: you pay through our payment provider. We do not see or store your card details.

We do not collect more than we need.

Who can see it

Sarah and the people who help her run the website and the shop. We also share information only where it is needed to do what you asked: our payment provider (to take your payment), whoever delivers your order (your name, address and phone number), and the e-mail and hosting services that send our messages and keep the website running. Sarah’s news is sent through MailerLite, which keeps the list of subscribers for us. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

Some of these services, such as e-mail, may keep information outside South Africa. We only use services that protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the reason you gave it to us, and for as long as the law requires us to keep records, for example records of a sale. Then we delete it or remove your name from it.

Cookies

The website uses only the cookies it needs to work: the shop remembers what is in your cart while you shop, and the people who edit the website use a sign-in cookie. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If this changes, we will change this page first.

The Orality Movement page shows videos as pictures. Only if you press play does your browser load that video from YouTube (we use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced address), and YouTube may then set its own cookies. We do not control those.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to us using it. Write to us and we will answer you. If you are not happy with how we handled your information you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Links to other websites

This website links to other websites, for example Facebook and WhatsApp. They have their own privacy rules and we do not control them.

Changes to this page

If we change how we use your information we will update this page and the date at the top.
